BR E AKI NG (SH AKI N G) NEWS
In an apparent sudden fit of jealousy over all the attention the US Women's Soccer team is receiving, Mother Nature decided to leap back into the headlines by putting on her own show these past few days in Southern California. The effects were widespread and varied. Residents of Rolling Hills, a Los Angeles suburb, were especially quick to jump on the bandwagon by ordering all restaurants which offered them, to cut the cost of milkshakes in half, for one week. In Rancho Cucamonga, where the minor league Dodger Quakes play at the Epicenter, all players changed their walk up music to "Shake, rattle and roll". And in Pasadena, the press was on 24 hour watch outside Dr. Lucy Jones' home, ready to report if she started packing her car for a long road trip. "That would be the best early warning system alert" said one geologist, who wished to remain anonymous.
Retired priest, John Saville of Corona, tried to keep it all in perspective: "Life has its ups and downs. Sometimes we're moving right, sometimes left, sometimes forward, sometimes backward. It's just so hard to stay still sometimes! So I always find some calming comfort in the psalms."
Indeed, Psalm 46 begins, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be moved..."
Currently on the island of Kauai, he is on tsunami watch and is waving to all his family and friends in SoCal, reminding them of these words found in psalm 62 verse 2...
"God alone is my rock and my salvation,
my stronghold, so that I shall not be greatly shaken..."
Prayers and peace for all.
John
